“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” – Ella Fitzgerald

Jean-Marié Steenberg is a graphic designer from Potchefstroom, South Africa. She grew up in Rustenburg where she first discovered her love for art, design and all things pretty. Even at a young age she used to look at signage/ logos in town with a critical eye and thinking of how she could improve the design. Her art teacher saw her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in graphic design.

Fast forward a few years later to 2008, she obtained her B.A. degree in Communication Studies (NWU) and started her career as a design teacher at Potchefstroom High School for Girls- literally the same day she graduated. While teaching, she freelanced under the name: “Renouvelle Design Studio”. Her on-the-side business grew and she was working late hours to meet deadlines and preparing lessons for her classes. A choice had to be made…With the quote of Henri Matisse- “Creativity takes courage” in mind, she decided to trust in her faith and become a full-time designer in 2012. In 2016 she changed her business’ name to         Jean-Marié Steenberg (JS) Graphic Design.

“I have a great appreciation for good design, typography and art. Creativity is my passion & I love to create beautiful, timeless designs. I am so blessed and thankful to make a living out of my love for design.”

Her wedding magazine collection started when she was 14 years old. Never knowing that one day she would work with so many beautiful brides. “Wedding stationery sets the tone for your wedding as it is also the first impression your guests will have of your fairy tale day. What an honour to help make it a lasting impression.”
